  • S1900 the Florida Food Freedom Act

    Exempts certain food producers selling or delivering directly to the consumer from licensing requirements. Prohibits state and local governmental agencies from requiring licensure, certification, or inspection of such producers under certain circumstances. Provides that certain persons selling directly to the consumer are exempt from food permit requirements. Requires persons selling directly to the consumer to be trained and certified, etc.

  • H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009

    To establish the Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services to protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes.

    To amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to the safety of the food supply.

  • H.R. 1324: Child Nutrition Promotion and School Lunch Protection Act of 2009

    To amend the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 to improve the nutrition and health of schoolchildren and protect the Federal investment in the national school lunch and breakfast programs by updating the national school nutrition standards for foods and beverages sold outside of school meals to conform to current nutrition science.

  • H.R. 800: Farming Flexibility Act of 2009

    To amend the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 to authorize producers on a farm to produce fruits and vegetables for processing on the base acres of the farm.

    To amend the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to require schools participating in the school lunch program under such Act to donate any excess food to local food banks.

  • H.R. 2322: Healthy Food Choices for Kids Act

    To amend section 18 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act to establish a pilot program that requires schools to post nutritional content information regarding foods served at schools and to teach students how to make healthy food selections, and for other purposes.
